Professional Expert

This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time (up to 67%), substitute, temporary, or hourly assignments on an as needed basis. Departments will refer to the pool of applications on file, as needed, to fill temporary assignments. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.

Requirements

  • Any bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of related professional experience required.
  • OR Any associate's degree plus six (6) years of related professional experience.
  • An unrestricted valid California Registered Nursing License or a valid unrestricted California Vocational Nursing License.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Experience must include:
    • Two (2) years of nursing experience (RN, LVN).
    • One (1) of the two years must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting.
    • One (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing.
    • OR Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (submit course certificate or transcript) completed within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program. Courses must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution.

Benefits

Barstow Community College offers health care benefits to benefits-eligible employees. Part-Time Faculty/Short-Term Temporary workers are not eligible for the District's benefits cap. However, Part-time faculty who have obtained preferred rehire status and have taught or served an average of at least 40% of a full-time faculty load for the past (2) two academic semesters (Fall and Spring) may apply for and shall be entitled to reimbursement pro-rated based on load or minimum of 50% of the District benefits cap. The Part-Time faculty member (California Residents only) may always purchase benefits from the Covered California Website, www.coveredca.com.
