Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam (LAN), a distinguished civil engineering firm, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Civil Engineer to join our Water District team. As a Professional Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and executing projects related to water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and drainage systems.

About the role

Professional Engineer with general instruction will independently perform engineering system design during all phases of multiple, simultaneous projects by performing design calculations, specifications, interpreting and preparing reports, applying techniques and procedures, preparing cost estimates, impact studies, permits, and designs/deliverable drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and performs system design, including calculations, equipment selection, layout, and drawing preparation.
  • Plans and conducts evaluation and site observation.
  • Reviews project documents, specifications, and design options; ensures code compliance through meetings and reviews.
  • Makes recommendations based on findings.
  • Conducts site investigations and technical research to support design decisions.
  • May mentor, lead, or supervise staff; assigns tasks and checks work for accuracy.
  • Applies standard engineering practices and software tools to produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of relevant codes and design standards.
  • Builds and develops internal and external relationships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer License (PE).
  • 4+ years’ experience.

Qualifications

  • Solid command of core engineering principles with the ability to apply them to real-world, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proficient in problem-solving.
  • Experienced with industry-standard software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Competent in data interpretation and statistical analysis.
  • Working knowledge of project management fundamentals.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and sound engineering judgement.
  • Detail-oriented and quality focused.
  • Effective communicator.
