Description
- Three 12-hour shifts per week, rotating nights Monday through Sunday, 1900–0700.
- Off-shift coverage as needed.
About the role
This role reports to the manager of Nursing Professional Development.
Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the Nursing Professional Development Department, coordinates and tracks education for unit interdisciplinary staff that assures up to date competencies and required certifications as appropriate to role.
- Collaborates with Department Nurse Managers to develop and coordinate unit based and online education plans.
- Conducts education for the department.
- Supports and encourages nurses pursuing and maintain specialty certifications.
- Supports and encourages nurses pursuing and maintain specialty certifications.
- Provides CEUs for unit specific educational programs as appropriate.
- Participates in patient oversight by coordinating plans of care for high-risk patients, facilitates root cause event investigations, and tracks all elements of any assigned corrective action plans, including completion and review of audits, necessary changes to policies and order sets, and monitoring staff completion of required education.
- Collaborates with medical staff members and nurse managers to plan and facilitate clinical drills for high-risk situations.
- Participates huddles and high-risk rounds.
- Collaborates with departmental medical and nursing leadership and Quality Coordinator to develop unit-based patient safety goals, evidence based and team focused policies, procedures and clinical practice guidelines aligned with the organization's mission and strategic plan.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Qualifications
- MAT or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- BLS, RN, CNOR, APRN, RNFA.
Skills
- Master's level degree.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
