About the role
The Professional Development Generalist PRN position at Houston Methodist is responsible for delivering educational programs and activities, assessing, planning, developing, evaluating, and revising educational activities. This role also involves facilitating learning that incorporates educational design, adult learning principles, change management, and evidence-based practice into curriculum development.Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing; Master’s degree preferred in health or education field.
- Experience: Four years clinical experience; Education experience preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications:
- Required: RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Compact Licensure – Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency)
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association
- Magnet-ANCC Recognized Certification (HM)
- PREFERRED: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA) or PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Instructor (AHA)
Essential Functions
- Collaborates with other health care professionals to promote positive communication techniques for problem resolution and/or impact achievement of identified goals.
- Serves as a liaison with different departments to ensure appropriate distribution of educational services for staff growth, preparedness, and competency.
- Provides effective hospital education, training, and delivery to achieve performance outcomes for leading best practice and safe patient care.
- Completes, coordinates, maintains, and submits program records and reports in a timely fashion.
- Participates in performance improvement activities to support department/entity goals.
- Integrates evidence-based practice, instructional technology, and adult learning theory into educational offerings.
- Identifies/supports innovative means to ensure accessibility and availability of clinical education programs across shifts/departments.
- Acts as a change agent. Participates in pertinent research activities and evidenced-based practice projects.
- Attends workshops and other educational programs to ensure awareness of current developments and trends. Expands individual nursing knowledge, completing and updating the individual development plan (IDP) on an ongoing basis.
