About the role
Serves as a key member of the Nursing Professional Development team, supporting the orientation process, competency management, and educational activities for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
Responsibilities
- Develops, coordinates, facilitates, conducts, and evaluates orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
- Aids in competency management through the use of tools capturing data on knowledge and performance.
- Designs educational activities addressing practice gaps for identified target audiences, collaborating with NPD Specialists.
- Utilizes adult learning principles to plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities to achieve desired outcomes.
- Facilitates a continuous process of lifelong learning for learners advancing from novice to expert.
- Collaborates with leadership to meet education needs of the site and nursing departments.
- Adjusts materials and teaching strategies to meet learners' developmental levels, preferences, and cultures.
- Evaluates and adjusts programming to improve learner outcomes, organizational resources, and patient outcomes.
- Develops and supports education needs based on specialty or department, collaborating with regional and system teams.
- Ensures compliance with scope of practice and age-specific needs of patients.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in front-line nursing.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communications, including strong presentation/speaking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Skills
- Knowledge of adult learning principles.
- Ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret necessary information for patient care.
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
