Nursing Professional Development - Generalist

Overview

Sentara Health is hiring a Full-Time Day shift Nursing Professional Development Generalist.

About the role

This position supports IMCU, ICU and other clinical departments. It is a 40-hour per week position.

Responsibilities

• Supports the development and implementation of staff education within designated populations.
• Functions as a learning facilitator supporting orientation, practice transitions, and continuing education.
• Provides foundational education competency/skills validation to successfully move nurses from novice to beginner/competent practitioners.
• Accountable for defined aspects of staff development, continuing education and professional development of nursing staff to improve quality, safety, and patient outcomes.
• Supports system and hospital performance improvement and evidence-based practice projects and initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• A valid RN license in the state(s) of practice is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
• Advanced or specialized life support certifications required upon hire as defined by specific specialty.
• Critical Care/IMCU ACLS, Emergency Care ACLS & PALS, Women's Care - Perinatal departments NRP, Inpatient Pediatrics PALS.
• 5 years of Critical Care RN experience.
• Classroom instruction or leadership experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: BSN.
• Experience: 5 years of Critical Care RN experience.

Skills

• Strong instructional design skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
