About the role

Responsible for the operations and development of the processing plant to ensure optimal metallurgical performance in line with established objectives and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Operate in compliance with the relevant laws of the Republic of Panama.
  • Maintain and ensure strict adherence to Hygiene, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards within assigned sections.
  • Implement metallurgical process strategies for crushing and grinding sections.
  • Consistently deliver and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) as per established guidelines.
  • Participate in daily section activities, providing technical support to operations staff to optimize plant performance.
  • Monitor, analyze, control, and report process performance, including internal plant sampling and interpretation of results.
  • Coordinate plant field studies, metallurgical test work, and circuit performance evaluations to recommend optimization methods.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and technical analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for plant performance improvement.
  • Issue and follow up on Daily Operating Instructions for shift teams, covering key process parameters, tests, tasks, and critical considerations.
  • Continuously seek and implement innovative solutions in workflows.
  • Control, report, and execute strategies for operational cost reduction.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • University degree or tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in technical engineering or metallurgy roles within plants, with specific expertise in base metal grinding and flotation processes.
  • Prior experience in metallurgical accounting is highly required.
  • Experience with process control systems, process information databases, and metallurgical optimization is highly valued.
  • Strong commitment to Safety, Health, Environment, and Community (SHEC) performance indicators.
  • Excellent analytical and cognitive skills to identify process deficiencies, bottlenecks, and implement systematic solutions effectively.
  • Strong understanding of complex metallurgical data, continuous improvement strategies, and process control in large-scale, continuous mineral processing plants.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to compile complex data and structure clear, precise operational performance reports for both senior executives and field operations teams.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency or knowledge of Spanish is highly valued, along with willingness to undertake additional language training if necessary.
  • Strong proficiency in computational and IT tools.
