About the role
Under direct supervision, this role is responsible for breaking down, trimming, and slicing sub-primals to customer specifications and standards.
Responsibilities
- Use specialized equipment to trim and break down sub-primals of various cuts of both imported and domestic beef.
- Recognize sub-primals that are out of spec and immediately report the deficiency to the lead.
- Demonstrate knife skills, including the use of a knife, hook, and steel.
- Maintain equipment and perform any necessary sharpening throughout the week.
- Work in a high-paced environment while maintaining high yields.
- Comply with all personal safety, food safety, product quality, and good manufacturing practices defined by the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Successfully complete position-specific training.
- Successfully complete all other on-the-job training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in using knives and related tools.
- Attention to detail in recognizing out-of-spec products.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, and feel objects or tools; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision ability to work with a computer screen and in a plant manufacturing environment.

Pay
The salary range posted represents the low and high end of OSI’s salary range for this position. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location, education, skills, experience, and performance.
Work Environment
- Work is generally performed within a manufacturing environment subjected to cold and warm temperatures.
- Requires wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Standard office equipment is available along with a plant manufacturing environment.
