Production Worker on First Shift

About the role

As a production worker at Ascentek, you will play a crucial role in manufacturing and packaging products according to work orders. You will operate and monitor filling and packaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Follow written work orders (PWTs) to produce and package various products
  • Operate and monitor bottle-filling, sub-assembly, and labeling equipment safely and efficiently
  • Gather raw materials, assist with line setup, and produce samples for quality inspection
  • Upon quality approval, fill, label, pack, and stack products onto pallets
  • Report defective materials, quality issues, or equipment concerns to the supervisor
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and follow all prescribed safety procedures
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on assigned machines as needed
  • Complete production tasks in alignment with daily schedules and priorities
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment, performing pre-use inspections and reporting maintenance needs
  • Pack and label bulk materials for replenishment orders when required
  • Follow direction and adapt to changes in workload or scheduling
  • Participate in department meetings and required training sessions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by applying 5S and Lean principles
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet production and customer needs

Requirements

No prior experience required; training will be provided. Familiarity with quality and safety procedures in a production environment, mechanical aptitude, and basic troubleshooting ability are beneficial. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and product quality are essential. Basic mathematical understanding for production measurements and counts is helpful. Team-oriented mindset with effective communication skills is important. Reliability, adaptability, and willingness to learn new systems and processes are valued. Basic computer literacy and ability to learn production systems such as JD Edwards are advantageous. Previous experience in production, assembly, or manufacturing environments and familiarity with Lean principles or 5S programs are beneficial. Experience operating forklifts or other production equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Schedule

The position is hourly, full-time (1st Shift), Monday through Thursday from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm, with occasional Friday overtime as needed.

Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands

Lift and carry up to 70 lbs. occasionally and push/pull drums up to 400 lbs. with equipment assistance
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift
Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders
Manual handling of equipment, bottles, and raw materials
Ability to stay focused in a repetitive task environment
Attention to detail and ability to follow production instructions accurately
Problem-solving and decision-making within defined procedures
Flexibility to work overtime or weekends based on business needs
Work performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment
Exposure to varying temperatures, including extreme heat during summer months
May work in high-traffic areas with moving machinery and forklifts
PPE required including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed shoes
