About the role

MSA Safety is a purpose-driven company committed to deploying innovation and technology to help protect people and assets worldwide. We are seeking a Production Worker Level 4 for our stitching area, supporting the footwear manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize industrial single needle, double needle, and programmable sewing machines to stitch leather footwear.
  • Read, interpret, and follow instructions and production tags.
  • Use and understand a ruler and measurements.
  • Ensure quality of work and learn at least two additional operations to support the departmental team.
  • Perform other duties such as material preparation, working with programmable machinery, manual jobs, and various shoe lasting operations (e.g., inserting leather uppers into clamping devices).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 months of sewing machine or stitching operation experience.
  • Positive and flexible attitude; ability to work as a team player.
  • Able to read, write, and speak basic English.
  • Pass a background check, drug screen, and pre-employment physicals.
  • Physical ability to:
    • Perform routine tasks and stand or sit stationary for 8 hours.
    • Stand or walk unassisted for a full shift (non-sewing operations).
    • Reach 12-18 inches at or above shoulder height.
    • Perform repetitive tasks using hands, wrists, fingers, arms, and shoulders.
    • Lift and carry 1-25 pounds unassisted; assist in team lifting of approximately 30 pounds.
    • Hear noises clearly (with or without hearing support).
    • See fine details, small components, and tools up close (with or without vision support).
    • Demonstrate good depth perception and manual dexterity.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work inside and around others.
  • Wear safety glasses for a full shift and/or gloves if required.
  • Work at a moderate pace, proficiently individually and as a team.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: Previous experience in sewing, manufacturing, machine operation, assembly, quality control, or inspection.
  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred).

Pay

Starting pay rate: $18.68/hour (Level I Pay Grade HR999).

Schedule

1st Shift: 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Thursday (overtime as business needs dictate).
