About the role
We are seeking General Laborers and Machine Operators for our Production and Warehouse Departments at the Fulton, New York facility. As a key global provider of sustainable packaging solutions, Huhtamaki is dedicated to making all packaging recyclable, reusable, or compostable. You will play a vital role in ensuring the hygiene and safety of food and drink for people worldwide while working in a collaborative and impactful environment.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently set up, start up, adjust, and shut down production machines.
- Continuously stand and walk at and around production equipment; perform frequent bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and lifting cases of finished product up to 50 lbs.
- Maintain good eye/hand coordination and ability to recognize colors.
- Work in ambient temperatures inside the building and in a fast-paced production environment.
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues.
- Maintain production and quality standards, follow job standard operating procedures, and adhere to all safety procedures.
- Collaborate with other production workers and follow daily clean-up procedures.
- Perform cleaning, sweeping, packing, palletizing, painting, and other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older at time of hire.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Preferred related education or certifications:
- National Work Readiness Certificate or BOCES/Vocational Education Training Certificate in Industrial/Manufacturing Skills.
- Community college - Continuing Education Certificate in Industrial/Manufacturing/Technical skills.
- A.A.S. degree in a Technical program field of study (e.g., electronics, manufacturing, engineering, computer science).
- 1-3 years of machine operator experience preferred.
- Proficient computer skills and experience working with automated/computerized machinery.
- Preferred experience:
- Industrial experience with skilled trades (e.g., millwright, carpenter, electrician, operating engineer, laborer).
- Work experience within manufacturing factories, power plants, recycling plants, or paper mills.
- Warehousing, distribution center, or high-tech material handling environment.
- Machining, fabrication and assembly, or metal work.
- Active or discharged U.S. Military service.
Pay
$18.56 to $21.95 per hour, dependent on job title.
