Production Unit Manager

Kenworth Truck Company manufactures The World’s Best® heavy and medium-duty trucks. An industry leader in fuel-saving technology, Kenworth offers solutions to increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, including aerodynamic trucks, compressed and liquefied natural gas trucks, and medium-duty diesel-electric hybrids.
Responsibilities
- Lead department safety initiatives, including accident investigations, job hazard analyses, and related functions.
- Conduct start-of-shift meetings to communicate key metrics, daily expectations, and address open issues.
- Perform Leader Standard Work, including audits and torque checks.
- Support Continuous Improvement Team meetings for the department and Test department.
- Instill and sustain a proactive safety culture, ensuring robust corrective actions.
- Lead department quality initiatives, including gate management, defect resolution, tool performance, and audit systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as line balancing, process walks, 5S activities, HPWT, and daily housekeeping.
- Create daily staffing assignments, develop and maintain training plans, and ensure appropriate job rotations.
- Manage daily functions, including time and attendance, training records, overtime, vacation scheduling, and record keeping.
- Foster an engaged culture through employee engagement activities.
- Complete timely performance reviews for employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Ability to work any shift.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven leadership ability.
- Manufacturing or related field management experience.
- Self-drive and initiative.
- Desired:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2-3 years of prior supervisory experience within PACCAR or a related industry.
