About the role
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
Responsibilities
- Cleaning, parts/materials preparation, mechanical /electrical assembly, soldering, polymerics processing, adhesive/bonding, masking, and paint operations.
- Executing manufacturing operations applying an advanced level of knowledge and skills in hardware assembly, troubleshooting and repair.
- Performing critical lifts of hardware.
- Applying an advanced competency in use of hand tools, assembly tooling and general manufacturing equipment.
- Completing certification training and maintaining required certifications as required.
- Utilizing reading and comprehension skills to follow documented build instruction and/or suggest revision to existing instruction.
- Completing rework and paint touch-up operations on flight hardware.
- Aiding with the general maintenance and housekeeping of the optical area and associated equipment.
- Maintaining a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.
- Interacting appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Assisting with other duties as necessary.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years or more related experience.
- Experience handling, cleaning, inspecting, and bonding of optics preferred.
- Current, active Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity for working with delicate optical and opto-mechanical hardware.
- Able to read and interpret optical component and subassembly drawings and specifications.
- Experience working in cleanroom and laser environments.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow detailed processes and procedures with consistency and rigor.
- Solid collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work with many different disciplines.
- Inquisitive self-starter, comfortable asking questions to ensure thorough understanding of assigned work prior to commencement of activities.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform work at all BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) Colorado campuses (Boulder, Broomfield and Westminster) for extended periods is required.
Skills
- Advanced competency in use of hand tools, assembly tooling and general manufacturing equipment.
- Reading and comprehension skills to follow documented build instruction and/or suggest revision to existing instruction.

Pay
Full-Time Salary Range: $57,319 - $91,710
