Production Technician I

About the role

Responsible for setting up and operating automatic or semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment. Works in compliance with established safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operates production equipment to manufacture, process, and assemble various commercial products and substances.
• Uses product specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOP) to produce products.
• Maintains records of production activities and reports any inconsistencies or equipment issues.
• Fulfills safety requirements for material handling and protective gear.
• Improves efficiency through studies and recordings of time, motion, methods, and speed.
• Troubleshoots issues related to manufacturing operations and industrial layout.

Requirements

• Education and experience: Attending a Vocational / Technical School or internal training program OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & Experience or Skillset; No prior experience needed.
• Preferred qualifications: Vocational/Technical Training Degree, Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred.
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise, ability to identify and seek needed information, research skills, problem-solving skills, machine operation, machine programming, manufacturing, numerical control, precision measurement, quality inspection, reading blueprints/diagrams, safety policies and procedures, record keeping, standard operating procedures (SOP).

Qualifications

• Physical Requirements: Regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities, must be able to lift up to 45 pounds, stand for long periods of time, work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery, may need to work outside normal business hours as required.
• Travel Requirements: No or very little travel likely.
