Summary
Engine Assembly Technician - Inspects, assembles, and tests engine components, subassemblies, and complete assemblies to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects and qualifies engine parts for use using visual and dimensional criteria
- Operates measuring instruments and test equipment to determine tolerances and placement of engine parts or subassemblies
- Identifies parts by model type and part number
- Assembles subassemblies and component parts into engines using manual, semi-automated, and/or fully automated methods
- Operates air tools, assorted hand tools, torque wrenches, and automated equipment
- Records production and quality data via manual and electronic methods
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality
- Performs operator-prescribed maintenance on assigned equipment
- Cleans and maintains an orderly work area
- Follows all company policies, procedures, and instructions including QS 9000 and ISO 14001 systems
Physical Demands
- Regularly stands
- Frequent use of hands to handle tools and perform repetitive grasping and reaching
- Occasional walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
- Regularly lifts up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles
- Moderate noise level
- Moderate exposure to temperature extremes
Tools and Equipment
- Air guns
- Assorted hand tools
- Manual or air-powered torque wrenches
- Measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
Materials
- Engine parts and fluids
- Assembly lubricants
- Sealing and locking compounds
- Solvent- and aqueous-based cleaning and paint products
Candidate Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must pass background check and drug screen
- Must be willing to work mandatory overtime
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to read and understand English
- Manufacturing experience preferred but not required
Schedule Options
- 8-hour shifts
- Day, evening, or night shifts
- Monday–Friday
- Weekend availability
