Production Team Leader

About the Role

The Team Lead supervises production teams to ensure safe, efficient operation of production lines and the delivery of quality Ziegenfelder treats. This role drives team performance in alignment with Ziegenfelder Values while supporting safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Supervise production teams to maintain safe and efficient operations.
• Lead and motivate teams to meet production goals and KPIs.
• Support Safety, Quality, and Operations teams in producing and packaging quality products.
• Coordinate with Operations Manager or Plant Director to manage staffing levels for safe, efficient, and productive use of employees.
• Ensure adherence to environmental and safety expectations; address exceptions, needs, or opportunities via the Event Management application.
• Verify production paperwork for accuracy, including raw material usage logs, metal detector calibrations, and product quality checks.
• Implement corrective/preventive actions for safety, quality, or defective product events.
• Coordinate with leadership to review and adhere to production schedules, cleaning operations, and product changeovers.
• Develop leadership skills and abilities of Operators to drive team success.
• Follow all GMP and SQF procedures and practices.
• Assist in training new personnel and ensure quality standards are met.
• Support Maintenance to ensure machines are in proper operational condition.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience in a management or leadership role in a manufacturing environment (preferred but not required).
• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (highly preferred).
• Ability to motivate and lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience driving teams toward specific production goals or KPIs.
• Mechanical or operational background is a plus.
• OSHA 10-hour General Industry Training and Certification (a plus).
• Root-cause or problem-solving training (a plus).

Physical Requirements

• Standing for up to 8 hours per day.
• Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and grasping actions.
• Good spatial awareness working around manufacturing equipment.
• Occasionally exert up to 50 lbs. of force; frequently up to 30 lbs.; constantly up to 10 lbs.
• May need to climb, balance, stoop, crouch, push, and pull during a shift.

Working Conditions

• Subject to cold temperatures below 32°F for more than one hour (with proper protective equipment).
• May be exposed to noise levels above 85 decibels (with proper protective equipment).
