About the role
Lead production crews in a precast concrete manufacturing facility, ensuring quality standards, safety compliance, and on-time production schedules. Oversee daily operations, coordinate workflow, monitor quality, enforce safety procedures, and collaborate with supervisors, quality control, and maintenance teams to meet production targets.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise production team members through training and mentoring on processes, equipment, and safety procedures; monitor performance and provide feedback.
- Assign tasks and monitor workflow to meet production schedules.
- Coordinate labor, materials, and equipment to maximize productivity.
- Monitor production performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Ensure proper setup and operation of molds, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, finishing, and curing processes.
- Ensure all precast products meet company, customer, and industry quality standards.
- Conduct routine inspections of products and manufacturing processes for compliance with specifications and drawings.
- Promote and enforce a safe work environment through safety meetings, toolbox talks, and PPE compliance.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies; investigate and report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure equipment is operated correctly and safely; report issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance.
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities as needed.
- Monitor material usage and minimize waste.
- Communicate daily production goals and updates on status, quality, and safety to team members.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, shipping, and management teams.
- Complete shift reports and maintain production documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment; minimum 2 years in precast concrete, construction materials, or related field preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of precast concrete production methods and quality standards preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA guidelines.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications.
Working Conditions
- Industrial plant setting with exposure to concrete, dust, and machinery.
- Standing for long periods with frequent movement through the plant.
- Exposure to noise, chemicals, or machinery; use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, ear protection).
- Ability to lift heavy objects regularly, if required.
- Ability to complete repetitive tasks.
- Work independently or in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime to meet project deadlines.
