About the role
As Team Lead, you will lead a crew of employees in servicing and repairing modular buildings.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and prioritize work schedule for production crew, assign modular mechanics and general maintenance employees.
- Verify quality according to company standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance and construction on modular buildings, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, and cleaning.
- Monitor the work of team members to meet productivity, quality, and safety requirements.
- Ensure team maintains tools, supplies, and work area consistent with the area’s 6S checklist.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and safety training of crew members.
- Carry out current industry safety practices, including knowledge of OSHA requirements.
- Conduct daily and weekly safety audits and document results.
- Provide continuous training of crew members and new employees; coach and counsel team members as needed.
- Act as a backfill for other leaders when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule
Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM, Friday 7:00 AM–11:00 AM.
Requirements
- Prior experience of at least 4–6 years in the construction or related industry performing and leading general construction trades.
- Prior experience with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or other specialties preferred.
- Able to effectively lead a team and offer guidance and direction.
- Prior experience overseeing the work of a team of at least 6 employees desired.
- Able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, procedures, and company-specific work orders, work instructions, and floor plans.
- Ability to use both manual and power tools and follow operating guidelines.
- Able to safely perform all tasks and understand company’s safety policies and procedures.
- Deliver a high-quality output consistent with the company’s construction standards.
- Able to take, record, and follow standard measurements and cut or separate materials to specific measurements or quantities.
- Able to read company’s construction documents (provided in English) and provide guidance to the construction team.
- Ability and desire to learn new computer programs and systems, including internal and Microsoft Suite-based applications.
- Able to work outside in variable weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to complete material and labor takeoffs from blueprints.
- Knowledge of current building codes, including 2016 CBC, 2018 IBC, and ADA.
- Fluency in spoken and written Spanish.
- Knowledge of LEAN principles.
Special Considerations
- Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects.
- Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder, and perform other manual labor activities.
