Production Team Lead

About the role
The Production Team Lead is responsible for the smooth and safe operation of their team, helping workers meet goals and mediating concerns with the Production Manager. This fast-paced role requires multitasking and comfort interacting with frontline staff, peers, and plant management. The Team Lead must set an example by working safely, following all health and safety policies, and using proper PPE.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with our in-house Engineering Team to ensure timely delivery of projects
- Provide support to the department Production Manager
- Conduct daily crew talks
- Maintain daily scanned-in hours between 75-80%
- Collect and maintain department Preventive Maintenance sheets
- Approve team payroll and vacation time
- Administer progressive discipline in the department as needed
- Accountable for bi-annual performance reviews for all team members
- Update department Pace charts as needed
- Monitor the flow of production and prioritize tasks as required
- Coordinate the team to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures
- Accountable for the team’s ability to meet production goals and overall schedule attainment
- Track and record production numbers daily
- Provide assistance when equipment is down or there are issues with supplies
- Communicate equipment issues to the department Production Manager
- Report any observed performance issues to the Production Manager
- Lead by example in safety and workmanship
- Ensure all employees in the department follow safe work procedures
- Perform work safely by following all safety rules and practices
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE): steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, face masks, etc.
- Report any unsafe work practices, dangerous habits, or hazardous conditions
- Monitor the work area for trip hazards, unsafe equipment, or unsafe conditions
- Work in accordance with documented procedures and complete all applicable records
Requirements
- Strong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written
- An eye for quality to uphold the standards of final products
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Comfortable with computers and learning new production equipment software applications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a production facility with a multicultural work environment
- Extensive experience interpreting welding and fabrication drawings
- Strong expertise in electrical and hydraulic systems
- Experience with welding, fabrication, electrical and hydraulics, assembly, and quality control
