Production Support Operator I

About the Role

A Production Support Operator performs a variety of production support functions, including cleaning parts, part marking, packaging, deburring and/or grinding parts, operating a tumbler, and using a sand blaster. Materials worked with may include aluminum, stainless steel, polyimide, phenolic, fiberglass, composite materials, titanium, brass, and copper.

Responsibilities

• Clean parts, perform part marking, and packaging in accordance with instructions on the Manufacturing Plan.
• Deburr and/or grind parts using files, grinding wheels, tumblers, and deburring cloth.
• Work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
• Adhere to scheduled shifts and meet company attendance requirements; flexibility to stay late or modify work hours on short notice to meet production deadlines.
• Perform job duties safely and comply with company safety rules and procedures.
• Follow lean philosophy and practice the 6 S’s (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) daily.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Good basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals).
• Good verbal and written English communication skills; ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to use micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to input data into a computer terminal.
• Neat penmanship for completing Manufacturing Plans and related documentation.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One to three months of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to be detail-oriented and multitask across several functions.
• Ability to organize work to optimize efficiency.

Schedule

Must be able to work scheduled shifts and meet company attendance requirements. Flexibility to stay late or modify work hours on short notice may be required to meet production deadlines.
