Production Supervisor (Plastics Division) - 2nd Shift (Horicon)

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for team members on their shift.

Schedule

  • 2nd Shift: 1:30pm – 10:30pm, Monday – Friday
  • Overtime: 9am – 2pm on Saturdays when required

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a good understanding of machine functions and troubleshoots problems
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition; follows prescribed safety regulations
  • Works closely with the Plant Manager and other Shift Supervisors to direct and coordinate team activities to meet production goals while maintaining high quality in a time-sensitive environment
  • Assembles and dismantles molds as a team
  • Conducts mold changes using overhead cranes and rigging
  • Uses feedback from Trimmers inspecting product to drive process improvements, reduce scrap, and improve productivity
  • Maintains safe and clean operations by adhering to safety procedures and company 6S requirements
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Utilizes computer programs (e.g., Kronos, SAP, ADP) to track employee attendance, hours worked, efficiencies, and other pertinent information
  • Understands required machine paperwork and documents actions by completing production and quality logs
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform simple math and measurements
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, or reaching above the shoulders
  • Frequent use of hands and wrists on both large and small items (e.g., screws, bolts, nuts) to service molds
  • Ability to focus and work at a continuous pace for extended periods
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate with other departments
  • Ability to mentor and develop direct reports and provide hands-on leadership
  • Aptitude to take and execute orders efficiently
  • Strong safety practices and ability to impart safety awareness within the team
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Leadership experience required, ideally in a plastics shop
  • Rotational molding experience is exceptional
  • Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment preferred

Equipment Operated

  • Forklift
  • Measurement devices
  • Wrenches, screwdrivers, and various other hand tools

Work Environment

The work environment includes occasional exposure to:

  • Wet and/or humid conditions
  • Varying temperatures between 60–100°F
  • Loud noise
  • Moving machinery parts
  • Airborne particles and fumes from production equipment

The plant is climate-controlled, though some areas may be hotter due to machinery.
