About the Role
The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising activities of a production team and shift/department and will have multiple direct reports. The right individual will ensure that safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards are achieved while meeting waste reduction and sustainability goals. This role will create a culture based on integrity, customer focus, innovation, and collaboration to enhance the department’s ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
The Production Supervisor handles all people leadership and management aspects of the department, including interviewing, selection, and performance management.
Responsibilities
- Drive the company to achieve goals by communicating expectations, planning, monitoring, and evaluating the flow of production.
- Effectively manage labor to meet plant labor productivity and cost goals by coordinating work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequence.
- Monitor production activities, identify problems, and troubleshoot causes to develop solutions.
- Plan and manage daily, weekly, and monthly objectives, communicating them to employees to ensure alignment.
- Create, train, monitor, and evaluate the team on safety, quality, and standard operating procedures.
- Train and understand all existing and new production equipment—create and/or review training documentation to ensure it’s up-to-date and accurate.
- Troubleshoot processing techniques and production machinery and provide solutions for continuous improvement.
- Accurately record, communicate, and maintain required documentation in a timely manner.
- Analyze and submit daily reporting on performance and progress as it relates to production, quality, safety, staffing, and regular maintenance duties.
- Demonstrate a self-motivated, results-driven approach with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Exhibit strong analytical skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment
- Exposure to moving equipment and inside work.
- Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Humidity may exceed 80%.
- Noise may exceed 85dB.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, stooping, squatting (up to 75% of the time).
- Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs).
- Frequent typing, keyboarding, preparing documents, and using voice-assisted tools as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant manufacturing experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory position.
- Strong background in manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is required; knowledge of Microsoft Word/PowerPoint is beneficial.
