About the role

Oversees and provides direction for the production associates and lead persons concerning the day-to-day activities of beef processing operations in order to meet GSF objectives and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Captures and analyzes operations, takes corrective action, provides constructive feedback, and monitors cost and expenses to achieve meat division and GSF productivity and quality objectives and to ensure compliance with GSF and regulatory agency regulations.
  • Supervises the daily activities of production supervisors, providing instruction, training, and performance feedback to ensure production efficiency and quality objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Identifies and resolves process operational issues, facilitates equipment problems, maintains quality, productivity, and safety utilizing available resources (QA/Sanitation/Maintenance Supervisors).
  • Enforces safety standards and quality procedures to ensure that department and GSF safety rules and quality specifications are adhered to.
  • Implements continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and productivity by developing new ideas, process improvement, and planning for upcoming equipment or process changes.
  • Routinely informs and communicates with all meat department resources (Director/Manager/QA/ Sanitation/Maintenance) to promote smooth operations, enhance their understanding of GSF policies and objectives, and to ensure compliance with established production policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Education/Certification: AA degree in food science or business administration from an accredited vocational, technical or junior college institution.
  • Experience: 3 to 6 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment with lead or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge: Beef processing and formulation concepts and techniques, supervisory concepts and procedures, food safety concepts and techniques, budgetary concepts and procedures, PC word processing/spreadsheet software.
  • Skills and abilities: Supervise and motivate subordinate managers and associates in a team-based environment, identify problems or irregularities for early resolution, communicate and coordinate effectively with employees verbally and in writing, communicate and coordinate effectively with internal and external customers, work effectively in a general business environment, act in accordance with GSF's Values and Creed.
