Responsibilities
- Lead daily production activities to support business goals, customer expectations, and operational priorities.
- Coach, guide, and motivate production team members while building a culture of accountability, teamwork, and respect.
- Oversee production schedules, product quality, yields, and safety practices to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.
- Partner with Human Resources, Supervisors, and Leads to support staffing, performance conversations, employee engagement, and team development.
- Track and review production data, including yields and new product performance, to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare reports and communicate key updates, results, and opportunities to leadership.
- Promote a safety-first mindset by participating in safety committees and reinforcing safe work practices on the floor.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to support equipment readiness, reduce downtime, and resolve production concerns quickly.
- Work closely with USDA inspectors to maintain compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
- Lead regular production meetings to share updates, recognize progress, solve problems, and keep the team aligned.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support plant operations and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of progressive experience in food manufacturing; meat manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of grinding and patty-making operations, production scheduling, materials handling, and shipping/receiving logistics.
- Comfortable using computer systems, production data, basic math, and reporting tools to support daily decision-making.
- Flexible and willing to support changing production needs and schedules when needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with employees at all levels.
- Ability to quickly learn product specifications, production processes, and customer expectations.
- Confident prioritizing work, making sound decisions, and staying calm in a fast-paced production environment.
- Understanding of USDA, SQF, and OSHA requirements, or the ability to apply regulatory knowledge in a manufacturing setting.
- Proven ability to lead a diverse team with fairness, consistency, and respect.
- General understanding of Human Resources practices, employee relations, and workplace safety expectations.
- Skilled at identifying issues, finding practical solutions, and following through to resolution.
