Responsibilities
- Directs the efforts of department supervisors as they manage day-to-day production activities.
- Sets daily, weekly, and monthly production goals; measures progress and reviews results with management regularly.
- Recommends equipment purchases to improve operations — for example, reducing costs, improving quality, and reducing lead times.
- Collaborates on the hiring, training, and termination of employees.
- Develops and maintains cost and capacity models.
- Oversees the production scheduling process.
- Assesses the effectiveness of the group's information and planning systems, as well as the quality assurance systems.
- Ensures that operations remain compliant with SOPs and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Supports and is involved in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs, and activities.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industry-related manufacturing activities.
Competencies / Skill Qualifications
- Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations such as adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying, and to calculate percentages and yield.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; ability to effectively present information to top management and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables.
- Must obtain and maintain a current food handler's permit.
- English proficiency required.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and converse and listen.
- Employee must exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to move objects.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
