About the Role
Provide management, guidance, and direction to production staff while overseeing all extrusion and thermoforming operations during the assigned day shift (5 AM – 6 PM). Ensure the production schedule is achieved at expected costs while meeting standards for safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Manage the production schedule by identifying and securing necessary resources (people, materials, etc.), scheduling and assigning work, and adjusting priorities as needed.
- Oversee direct labor, materials, and related costs to stay within budget.
- Monitor production progress, troubleshoot issues, and ensure production goals are met.
- Coordinate with maintenance and other departments to ensure proper equipment functioning.
- Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts by communicating with incoming/outgoing shift leaders.
- Provide leadership to staff, including recruitment, training, performance feedback, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Foster a positive work environment through open communication, teamwork, and motivation.
- Ensure compliant operations by enforcing safety, GMP, and quality standards, and maintaining a clean work area.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements, waste reduction, and production efficiency opportunities.
- Handle reporting and record-keeping, including logging production hours in SAP, maintaining accurate time-keeping records, and completing weight and quality checks for each line per shift.
- Send required shift updates and manage special projects or initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- Prior manufacturing experience in a high-speed environment.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
- Knowledgeable of safety-related activities (Lock Out/Tag Out, Behaviorally Based Safety, incident investigations, etc.).
- Knowledgeable of quality-related activities (statistical process control, etc.).
- Strong results orientation, initiative, and ownership for success.
- Strong supervision and team leadership skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with all levels of employees.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; SAP experience a plus.
- Ability to interpret production schedules and understand material handling, extrusion, and thermoforming processes to identify and resolve issues.
