Production Supervisor (Day Shift)
About the role
The Production Supervisor oversees shift performance, focusing on safety, quality, throughput, labor efficiency, and waste. They lead daily shift startup, execution, and handoff to ensure consistency across all shifts. Key responsibilities include monitoring run rates and output, identifying and addressing downtime, driving adherence to standard work and GMP requirements, ensuring product quality, partnering with maintenance, enforcing safety standards, leading employee development, ensuring proper staffing, driving labor efficiency, and maintaining accurate reporting.
Responsibilities
- Own shift performance, including safety, quality, throughput, labor efficiency, and waste
- Lead daily shift startup, execution, and handoff to ensure consistency across all shifts
- Actively manage line performance in real time, including:
- Making sure run rates and output are monitored
- Identifying and addressing downtime
- Escalating issues quickly when needed
- Ensuring adherence to standard work, operating procedures, and GMP requirements
- Ensuring all products meet defined quality standards, including weight, appearance, and packaging requirements
- Partnering closely with Maintenance to ensure equipment uptime and rapid response to issues
- Enforcing safety standards and ensuring compliance with all EHS requirements
- Leading and developing front-line employees through coaching, accountability, and clear performance expectations
- Ensuring proper staffing and positioning of employees to meet production targets
- Driving labor efficiency and minimizing waste, including material giveaway and rework
- Conducting daily communication with team members, including:
- Shift huddles
- Clear expectations for performance
- Feedback on results
- Supporting and driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity
- Maintaining accurate and timely reporting of shift performance, including downtime, output, and key KPIs
- Collaborating cross-functionally with FSQA, Maintenance, and Warehouse to ensure smooth operations
- Holding team members accountable to performance, behavior, and attendance standards
- Supporting onboarding and training of new employees to build a capable and reliable workforce
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Preferably in engineering, business, operations management, or similar fields.
- Lean Six Sigma Experience preferred, demonstrated by successful completion of a major improvement project.
- Ability to interface effectively with plant personnel, outside contractors, and different functional groups within the business units.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality systems, finance, statistical process control, and KPI management systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in safety & quality compliance.
- Must be very effective working in a volatile and complex environment and work with a sense of urgency that drives effective results.
- Strong influence management and communication skills, ability to gain organizational buy-in
- Able to communicate and influence at all levels of an organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications
- Able to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Able to lead a team-based approach to decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others.
- Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills.
- Experience in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry preferred.

Work Environment
