About the Role
Effectively manage and direct the day-to-day operations of the plant production department, ensuring high quality of finished products and high performance of production equipment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safe working conditions and practices to achieve a zero lost-time injury record within the area of responsibility.
- Perform work duties in accordance with QSHE Manual procedures.
- Provide leadership and employee training to maintain high professional standards within the department.
- Conduct performance appraisals for subordinates and ensure fair and consistent disciplinary practices.
- Report accurate payroll and related employee information to the Human Resources department.
- Coordinate and schedule operating hours for production equipment and personnel activities to satisfy customer requirements.
- Maintain proper inventory control of finished products.
- Ensure all production equipment operates at optimum performance levels to achieve high quality, maximum productivity, and low production costs.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts within the area of responsibility.
- Communicate maintenance requests on equipment to the maintenance department and follow up to ensure satisfactory completion.
- Supervise implementation of procedures to ensure all production inventory is correct with respect to product, quality, and quantity.
- Generate production reports to determine equipment production rates, run time, and downtime reports needed to evaluate equipment availability and schedule preventive maintenance or repairs.
- Ensure process equipment is operated in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of consumable items used within the area of responsibility.
- Work swing shifts as needed to cover vacations and unplanned production situations.
- Perform the duties of the Manager in their absence, including attending daily staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in mining, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering or a commensurate level of education and experience.
- Basic knowledge of mineral grinding, crushing, and packaging equipment.
- Ability to comprehend all aspects of industrial manufacturing and solve process-related problems.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills, as well as general management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors, other department managers, and subordinates.
- Familiarity with personal computers and application software, including automatic process control.
- Capability to efficiently integrate existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production problems in a timely manner.
Pay
Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 annually.
