The Opportunity
The Production Supervisor – Converting 3rd shift at Smurfit Westrock in Lancaster, PA oversees maintenance operations to maximize plant and production equipment uptime. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day operations with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Acting as the first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failures or production issues.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and enforcing control procedures.
- Cooking up production activities with other departments to achieve production goals.
- Maintaining staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training employees, and developing individual growth opportunities.
- Ensuring adherence to plant safety regulations and encouraging employee safety consciousness.
- Directing maintenance employees to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform preventative maintenance.
- Producing daily reports on shift production and conducting daily shift reviews.
- Controlling load factors and workflow to optimize capacity and resource usage.
- Ensuring compliance with company standards and meeting customer commitments.
People and Culture
As a Production Supervisor, you will manage and coach employees, provide performance reviews, enforce disciplinary actions, and direct maintenance employees. Essential responsibilities include:
- Maintaining staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training employees, and developing individual growth opportunities.
- Ensuring daily adherence to plant safety regulations and encouraging safety-consciousness among employees.
- Ensuring compliance with company standards and meeting customer commitments.

Technical Skills
- Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- WorkforceKiwi: Familiarity with WorkforceKiwi software.
- AS/400: Knowledge of AS/400 systems.
- JDE: Experience with JDE systems.
Experience and Education
- Experience: 3 to 4 years of related experience, preferably in manufacturing and corrugated supervisory roles.
- Preferred: Previous experience working in a Lean environment; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
- Education: High School diploma or G.E.D., with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or Operations Management preferred.
