The Opportunity

The Production Supervisor will manage the production department employees to meet manufacturing and production schedules, coordinate production operations, maintain quality procedures, and enforce safety regulations.

What you will impact at Smurfit Westrock

  • Manage day-to-day operations with safety, quality, delivery, and cost as top priorities
  • Act as the primary point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failures or production issues
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend changes to the Plant Superintendent
  • Coordinate production activities with other departments to achieve goals efficiently and cost-effectively
  • Monitor production to eliminate waste and adhere to schedules
  • Input accurate production data into systems to measure KPIs such as efficiency, downtime, inventory, and overall production
  • Provide recommendations to enhance safety, environmental, and health within the facility
  • Generate daily reports on shift production and assess goal achievement
  • Control load factors and workflow to maximize capacity and use resources effectively
  • Manage and coach employees, conducting performance reviews and enforcing discipline
  • Recruit, select, orient, train, and develop employees
  • Direct maintenance employees to troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance
  • Enforce adherence to safety regulations and promote a safety-conscious workplace
  • Maintain compliance with company standards and customer commitments

What you need to succeed

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or Operations Management (preferred)
  • 3+ years of corrugator supervisory experience in a packaging facility (required)
  • Experience in a Lean environment, including Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification (preferred)
  • Proven experience in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Proven track record of effective problem-solving
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with stakeholders across functions
  • Ability to coach and train employees
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve process and maintenance issues independently
  • Ability to make independent, effective decisions
  • Self-directed team player with flexibility to work multiple shifts
