Responsibilities

  • Supervise the performance of the production department employees ensuring safe, efficient processing of product while meeting quantitative and qualitative standards for production output, health and safety, HACCP, GMP, sanitation and product quality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate production and packaging equipment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete production paperwork from all departments.
  • Assist in the management of work force numbers, scheduling and shift assignment within agreed standards.
  • Recommend process or equipment improvements, which would lead to quality or efficiency improvements - implement changes as agreed.
  • Minimize rework or damaged product due to employee handling and processing.
  • Delegate work assignments, troubleshoot operating problems and take preventative or corrective action.
  • Ensure that production reporting is accurate and timely, including weights and lot tracing information.
  • Work effectively with other departments to maximize product quality and plant efficiency.
  • Be hands on in the production process when necessary in all departments.
  • Ensure adequate training is provided for employees in specific work tasks to reduce or eliminate the risk of workplace injuries.
  • Ensure the safe operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure that employees work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures.
  • Rigorously enforce standards of sanitation and product handling.
  • Affirmatively engage with and promote a positive work environment for all employees.
  • Provide necessary training or coaching to employees.
  • Set an example for employees in professionalism, personal care/hygiene, behavior, and care of workspace.
  • Address and navigate difficult conversations with employees.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma -or- College Degree in a technical, engineering or relevant field (preferred).
  • Work Experience: 2-3 years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment – Food manufacturing a plus!
  • Prior supervisory experience a must.
  • Technical: HACCP, GMP knowledge.
  • Technical: Basic Microsoft Office Skills.
  • Mechanical skills a plus.
  • Personal: Strong organizational and leadership skills, together with a results-driven approach.
  • Personal: Strong communication and interpersonal skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Personal: Self-motivated and an efficient problem solver.
  • Personal: Able to quickly determine priorities and adapt activities to changing production conditions.
  • Personal: Able to delegate, supervise, evaluate and motivate direct reports.
  • Personal: Team player with the ability to plan and execute activities and projects.
  • Personal: Ability to maintain records and prepare clear, concise documentation.
