About the Role

Hands-on manufacturing supervisor who provides guidance and training in the manufacture of food. Works alongside and with the manufacturing team, stepping in as needed to ensure maximum productivity. Helps keep materials organized and advises management of upcoming needs. Sets a positive example in safety, quality, and productivity while maintaining an orderly flow of quality production through the manufacturing plant. Encourages good housekeeping and fosters employee morale and job satisfaction. Advises management of productivity and quality issues that require resolution.

This position manages multiple areas, including Grind (as needed), product flow to pack off, production of multiple packaging lines, fresh and frozen pallet creation, while ensuring service and production needs are met. Collaborates with QA, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Plant Leadership to foster an effective work environment.

This is a 2nd shift position located in College Park, GA. The facility is refrigerated, exposing team members to temperatures below 40 degrees for multiple hours of the day.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and monitors Production Grind, Forming, and Packaging activities to ensure quality and safety of products, including texture and freshness.
  • Ensures FIFO (First-In, First-Out) is applied to raw materials to comply with customer satisfaction.
  • Assures adequate materials and supplies (Inventory, batch sheets, etc.) are available to avoid downtime.
  • Monitors batch sheet records to ensure correct raw material usage and proper recording.
  • Ensures team members follow processes to produce the “Very Best Burger,” including temperature control, proper forming, placement into packaging film, and master casing.
  • Manages yield and labor variances with an understanding of operational controllables.
  • Communicates material deficiencies to ensure timely orders, including forecasting for the following week’s needs.
  • Manages work hours of direct team, including attendance, break punctuality, shift start assignments, and overtime to achieve cost-per-pound goals.
  • Maintains general housekeeping and encourages safety by insisting on a clean, safe work environment. Ensures employees follow prescribed safety procedures, including proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Oversees health and safety of the production team and adherence to GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Safety policies, including addressing and reporting infractions.
  • Holds leads, operators, and personnel accountable for their areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains quality and safety of products by ensuring employees meet company and USDA specifications.
  • Communicates job expectations; plans, monitors, and appraises job results; coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees; initiates, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Develops highly productive personnel and work teams by providing ongoing training and delegating specific duties, including new employee onboarding.
  • Reports any food safety issues and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) violations.
  • Performs other tasks and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of supervisory experience in food packaging or processing, preferably in protein.
  • High School diploma or GED required; college education preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment (40 degrees and below).
  • Strong math skills.
  • Ability to write and communicate concisely in English; bilingual preferred.
