About the role

The Production Supervisor directly supervises production employees to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas. This includes planning, assigning and directing work, addressing product and employee complaints, and resolving problems. This person carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

  • Works with plant management and other supervisory staff to assign, direct, review, and monitor work of supervised staff to meet production, efficiency, and cost objectives.
  • Ensures proper procedures are in place and being consistently followed for production efficiency, quality of product, food safety, employee safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Leads daily production operations, identifying and resolving issues that impact throughput, downtime, and performance.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup, operation, and adjustments to equipment.
  • Coordinates and communicates production schedules and determines worker hour requirements to meet production goals.
  • Evaluates production demands and adjusts staffing, assignments, and workflows to meet production run schedules.
  • Uses ERP systems to review and analyze production data including volume, OEE, and downtime; drives actions based on results.
  • Completes and reviews production/packaging records, sanitation documentation, accident reports, investigations, and other required records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Leads employee training (job, safety, food safety) and monitors work performance, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Drives continuous improvement efforts by identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and sustaining improvements using CI methods.
  • Maintains time and production records as required.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Maintenance, Quality, and Warehouse to meet plant performance objectives.
  • Provides direct supervision of assigned employees including scheduling, attendance, coaching, discipline, and performance management.
  • Ensures consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Promotes and enforces safety programs and policies to reduce incidents and near-misses.
  • Leads by example in enforcing standards and holding employees accountable for safety, quality, and production expectations.
  • Provides clear direction, feedback, and coaching to employees to improve performance and engagement.
  • Participates in plant initiatives related to cost control, efficiency, and operational improvement.
  • Adheres to the Saputo code of ethics and actively applies Saputo values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Operations Management or equivalent experience OR 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements.
  • Experience leading and enforcing Safety/Security policies and procedures.
  • Proficient with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to coach, develop, and hold a team accountable.
  • Ability to manage employee relations issues in a consistent and compliant manner.
  • Understanding of cost containment, labor efficiency, and production metrics.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends in support of plant operations.

Pay

Pay Range: $73,815 - $95,000
