About the Role
Vitro Meadville is seeking a Shift Supervisor to direct and supervise activities on their assigned shift and respective line operations. The role focuses on meeting plant objectives related to safety, housekeeping, quality, productivity, cost, customer requirements, and employee relations. The Shift Supervisor must use discretionary judgment to address product deviations while considering operating restrictions, costs, and customer needs. This is a rotating shift position that alternates between nightshift and dayshift.
Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with Vitro safety standards to avoid serious injury and maintain a safe, healthy work environment for all employees.
- Provide prompt and effective supervision to production departments to support the attainment of plant production goals.
- Coordinate manpower scheduling for the assigned area.
- Conduct effective evaluations, counseling, and training while providing equal opportunity for all personnel to achieve maximum development of individual capabilities.
- Provide leadership to meet outgoing quality goals through appropriate quality programs.
- Enforce company policy using the progressive discipline structure.
- Recommend safety improvements, enforce safety rules, and conduct safety meetings.
- Develop innovative skills and techniques to make the best use of available resources.
