Plans and directs all manufacturing duties for a business unit, including direct supervision of hourly employees. Ensures team safety, product quality, and operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities
- Coach, teach, and supervise assigned personnel.
- Foster effective employee relations; initiate proactive coaching and development.
- Resolve employee issues by identifying problems and implementing resolutions.
- Provide on-site leadership for project teams, motivating members to meet project goals and milestones.
- Manage performance (hiring, development, discipline, termination) of direct reports in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Build and maintain business relationships across all levels and organizations.
- Monitor, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and appraise manufacturing product line staff.
- Promote a safety-first culture; investigate incidents, execute corrective actions, and train employees on safety topics.
- Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results.
- Complete timekeeping, absenteeism, and attendance-related corrective actions promptly.
- Organize, prioritize, plan, and establish work schedules and production sequences.
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance business results and process repeatability.
- Manage and maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Create and manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Communicate daily with Planning to ensure proper inventory levels, delivery schedules, and production needs.
- Assist in managing product line financials, including participation in Open Book Management.
- Coordinate operations and labor activities between product lines as necessary.
- Apply lessons learned to future efforts.
- Maintain constant alertness and work safely.
- Regular, in-person attendance due to the interactive nature of the role.
- Perform other related duties, including backup for department personnel to support production plans.
Requirements
- Leadership skills to proactively lead, develop, and coach others.
- Knowledge of principles and procedures for employee selection, development, and training.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with technologies and best practices across multiple platforms.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, JDE, project management, CRM systems, and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Self-starter and goal-oriented with a focus on timely resolution of order management issues.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with mechanical aptitude for effective communication.
- Working knowledge of master scheduling for finished products with multiple process levels.
- Ability to read engineering prints and assess manufacturing capacity to determine component need dates.
- Knowledge of master data driving forecasting, planning, scheduling, and shipping within an ERP system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Materials Management, or related field preferred; High School Diploma required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in manufacturing or production.
Pay
Base Compensation Range: $63,736 – $99,691 annually
Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 12% of gross annual salary based on company performance.
