About the role

The Production Supervisor at Novolex is a key member of the plant leadership team responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, assists, motivates, and evaluates shift employees in daily operations and problem resolution
  • Promotes and trains on consistent and proactive safety, including compliance audits, incident reports, and investigations
  • Ensures quality specifications are met and procedures are followed
  • Trains team in executing proper company procedures, focusing on safety, quality, and meeting production goals
  • Collaborates with peers to inform them about essential topics during shift changeovers
  • Manages shifts to attain production and scrap goals
  • Troubleshoots and resolves processes, equipment, and material issues with support
  • Interprets work orders and specifications to shift employees, as necessary
  • Studies and understands production schedule and deploys available labor and other resources, as required
  • Routinely audits product quality and ensures specifications are met and quality procedures followed
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals
  • Ensures accuracy and finalizes production paperwork, including production reports, work order documentation, safety and sanitation documents, quality records, finished goods tickets, etc.
  • Maintains shift production staffing levels
  • Analyzes production losses and determines corrective action
  • Drives SQF (Safe Quality Foods) culture and ensures GMPs are followed
  • Performs SQF audits and coaches employees on proper GMP protocols and procedures
  • Complies with established plant rules and procedures that promote compliance with customer service-related activities
  • Maintains safety, quality, production, waste, and housekeeping goals set forth by management

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of manufacturing experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced production environment
  • Preferred qualifications include Lean Manufacturing training or certification, Six Sigma certification, experience in food packaging or regulated manufacturing environments, and experience working in SQF-certified facilities

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Move throughout a manufacturing facility
  • Climb stairs and access production equipment
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Bend, kneel, stoop, reach, push, and pull
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures
