Responsibilities
- Lead the shift supervisors.
- Work with process engineers to identify and develop process improvements; assist with their implementation.
- Develop standard operating procedures for new equipment and processes; evaluate existing procedures; audit for compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide recommendations for capital projects, equipment upgrades, and other ways to reduce cost, improve efficiency, or increase manufacturing capability.
- Monitor process equipment and systems and ensure compliance to standard operating conditions and established operation practices.
- Participate in HAZOP and process safety reviews.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement in EHS.
Requirements/Qualifications
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred; a combination of education and experience as detailed below may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- At least three years of supervisory experience is required; this experience may have been acquired in the military or industry.
- At least two years of experience working with distributed control systems (DCS) is a strong plus; the selected candidate must learn to operate the DCS.
- Strong operational aptitude and knowledge of industrial chemicals, pumps, compressors, blowers, dryers, mixers, kilns, high-temperature vessels, and other types of equipment.
- Familiarity with the operation of turbines, generators, and high-pressure steam boilers is a strong plus.
- Good communication (written and oral) skills, along with ability to use Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience with administering and interpreting a collective bargaining agreement is a plus, where a labor union is present.
