Responsibilities
- Manage a mid-sized production team, building and maintaining positive working relationships with staff
- Assist with the hiring and onboarding of new employees
- Oversee new employee training, and assess team members skills and competency gaps; facility cross training, coaching and mentoring
- Lead performance evaluations and compensation reviews
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations and morale
- Assist with task delegation and provide hands-on support on the production floor as needed
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, improve process efficiency, reduce costs, and drive continuous improvement through tools such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, and standardized work.
- Create and maintain quality standards; track and oversee quality control for materials and finished products
- Assist with inventory management and organization
- Own the SQDCI Operational Metric Board, including: - Maintaining a database of daily and weekly incidents
Running reports to track performance and KPIs
Leading weekly huddles with the production team to review Performance Indicators - Build strong collaborative relationships with peers and management team
- Participate in broader leadership initiatives as needed
- Present operational information and updates clearly to management
Qualifications
- 5+ years of production management or senior supervisory experience, including significant employee management, in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing methodology
- Significant experience with manufacturing safety protocols
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Drive, Docs)
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Sage X3 or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings
- CNC experience preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to staff
