PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

About the role

JBS began in 1953 and is now the largest animal protein processor in the world. Our Plainwell facility, which started in 1918, is known for its Modified Atmospheric Packaging (MAP) and produces ground beef patties. The facility is recognized for its sustainability practices, including using biogas from an anaerobic lagoon to power heating systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• 1-2 years background experience in packing houses (beef preferred)
• Knowledge of products and their specifications
• Communication skills
• Ability to motivate workers
• Bilingualism is preferred but not mandatory

Responsibilities

• Ensure the quality and yields of products on the line
• Serve as a supervisor for all hourly employees on the line
• Manage the safety and motivation of all employees supervised
• Ensure that all products leaving the line area meet required specifications
• Prepare pre-operational paperwork and ensure the line is clean and sanitized before operations begin
• Ensure proper staffing to meet production needs
• Prepare employee paperwork for all employees on the line
• Measure job performance based on overall productivity and management of hourly employees
• Adhere to union regulations regarding hourly employees
• Attend and provide input at daily supervisor meetings within the fabrication area
• Run line meetings once a month for hourly employees on the line
• Administer follow-up training on all personnel on the line
• Directly responsible for discipline procedures with hourly employees on the line, ranging from verbal warnings to terminations
