About the role
The Production Supervisor coordinates shop-floor workflows, schedules worker shifts, enforces safety protocols, and troubleshoots operational bottlenecks. The goal is to optimize output while minimizing waste, downtime, and safety incidents.
Responsibilities
- Assign tasks, schedule shifts, and distribute daily production targets to floor staff.
- Enforce OSHA regulations, verify PPE usage, and conduct safety training.
- Perform product inspections, enforce quality metrics, and address defects immediately.
- Onboard, train, coach, and handle disciplinary actions for assembly workers.
- Partner with maintenance teams to handle machine breakdowns and schedule preventative repairs.
- Monitor raw material levels to avoid manufacturing delays or shortages.
- Document daily output numbers, track KPIs, and submit shift summaries to management.
- Apply lean manufacturing methods like 5S or Six Sigma to reduce floor waste.
Requirements
- 3 to 7 years in manufacturing, with at least 1 to 3 years in a leadership role.
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or business preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP software, inventory control, and manufacturing machinery.
- Strong conflict resolution, clear communication, and ability to handle high-pressure deadlines.
- Ability to stand, walk the factory floor, and lift heavy parts during long shifts.
