Key Responsibilities
- Commit and adhere to Daybreak Foods industry leading Animal Welfare practices and standards
- Supervise daily operations of the staff
- Maintain the completion and accuracy of daily chore sheets
- Monitor the environmental controls of the barns and complex throughout the day and implement corrective actions to address concerns found
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly and keep up with necessary Preventive Maintenance (PMs)
- Ensure effective safety practices and procedures are being followed
- Absorb and document animal welfare programs for audit purposes
- On-call for 24-hour alarm calls and assist with resolving issues
- Monitor stakeholder activity during the workday and adjust to optimize efficiency
- Provide coaching for employees as needed
- Aid in providing progressive discipline and corrective action as needed
- Aid in performing performance evaluations
- Collect weekly numbers and create final reports
- Responsible for bird moves
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Preferably an Associate degree in a related field (Ag, Business, etc.)
- Or 5+ years of experience in poultry industry
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a poultry production setting preferred
- 1 to 3 years holding a position of leadership
- Basic Preventive Maintenance experience preferred
- Ability to read, speak, and write English required
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
- Ability to hire, train, motivate, and retain a talented workforce
- Ability to provide effective coaching, mentoring, and discipline
- Knowledge of effective safety practices
- General understanding of electrical and mechanical devices with good troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of computers including Windows-based programs and systems
- Ability to interact with individuals from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds
- Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles
- Temperature varies in relation to the outside temperature
- Moderate noise level in the work environment
