Position Snapshot

A Production Supervisor is commonly expected to direct and coordinate manufacturing operations of a single shift to meet company objectives and standards as to employee relations, safety, quality, efficiency, quantity, training, and environmental compliance and to coach associates in continuous improvement always serving as a positive role model by setting a good example. Works daily to ensure assigned areas of responsibility are working with risk lowered to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) specifically to achieve ZERO HARM so no injuries, illness, or negative impact occurs to employees, property, the environment, or the community.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Directly supervise work of assigned personnel on assigned shifts, coaches and supports their growth and development to reach their maximum potential
  • Manages employee relations, housekeeping, safety, production, training, and quality standards. Leads by example
  • Prepares for shift by checking production conditions with the previous shift's Production Team Leader, checking orders, and scheduling production on machines
  • Schedules production on machines
  • Ensures all material supplies are adequate for shift operation
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to discuss production conditions, safety, and quality topics, distribute job assignments, and keep the team informed of changes or events within the company and plant goals
  • Completes evaluations, administers corrective actions, and recognizes performance
  • Conducts cycle counts
  • Conducts various quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process
  • Conducts visual inspections of the plant to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations to ensure ‘Safe Operation with Zero Harm’.
  • Initiates preventative action to ensure all performance standards are met

Requirements and Education

  • Professional or technical degree preferred (2-year associate degree)
  • A minimum of 3 years of previous work-related experience is required in a manufacturing environment
  • Individuals must have above-average interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and develop individuals
  • Mechanical aptitude and manufacturing experience preferred, but not required
  • A proven track record of success in a manufacturing supervisory role, stable work history, knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Practices, and the ability to lead and develop a productive workforce
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable
