About the Role
Oversee plant operations in leadership and supervision of hourly employees, focusing on production, manufacturing, and distribution of products. Identify problems and develop plans to continuously improve the use of materials, machines, and employee resources. Ensure and promote safety, success, teamwork, and quality in the work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provides supervision to hourly employees on assigned shift, including tracking attendance, scheduling vacations, and ensuring compliance with the employee handbook.
- Conduct daily shift meetings to keep employees informed about production levels, delivery performance, quality, overtime, and upcoming events.
- Supervise daily staffing and output levels to meet or exceed planned productivity targets.
- Motivate, provide clear direction, and set expectations for new and existing hourly and temporary personnel.
- Ensure all hourly and temporary personnel receive necessary training, tools, and are held accountable to set expectations.
- Supervise production to meet or exceed customer/design specifications while maintaining or reducing planned customer concern and scrap levels.
- Participate in problem-solving teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for quality-related issues.
- Supervise daily production according to schedules to minimize past-due orders and maximize on-time delivery.
- Ensure employee safety by enforcing the use of safety devices and proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report all accidents or near misses to the operations manager and safety manager within 24 hours and participate in accident investigations.
- Assist with implementing and sustaining corrective actions.
- Ensure associates attend all safety-related training events.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and maintain 5S initiatives within the production area.
- Continually search for process improvements to enhance Quality, Productivity, Delivery, Safety, and Cost metrics.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Business Administration or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience and/or specialized training.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership/supervisory role.
- 1-3 years of practical experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes.
- Working knowledge of various safety programs and OSHA regulations.
- Familiarity with Quality systems and processes.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position occasionally.
- Frequent movement within plant and office designated areas.
- Minimal need to position self in low or tight spaces.
- Occasional movements of hands, wrists, or fingers such as typing, filing, and writing.
Environmental Conditions
Non-temperature-controlled manufacturing work environment with adequate lighting and ventilation.
