Responsibilities

  • Follows all Howmet safety regulations, work rules, and departmental specific requirements.
  • Records data either manually or by computer as required.
  • Examines castings and products at various stages of processing procedures for conformance to both internal and external specifications.
  • Observes machines and equipment for malfunction and orders adjustments or repairs, directing workers to make adjustments or repairs.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Explains company policies to employees and assures compliance to EHS responsibilities.
  • Conducts employee training, practices incident prevention techniques, facilitates between Managers, EHS resources, employees, and conducts self-inspections with verification regarding compliance.
  • Explains specifications, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Suggests measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Estimates, provides requisitions for, and inspects materials.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Establishes project plans and coordinates activities for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Makes recommendations for employee status (hiring / terminations and promotions of employees).
  • Resolves grievances and employee relations issues as they arise.
  • Completes performance evaluations on his/her employees as required.
  • Administers employee corrective action for his/her employees.
  • Responsible for training and mentoring team leaders for their individual development.
  • Maintains measurement/metrics for departmental performance.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma/G.E.D.
  • A minimum of three-years related manufacturing experience in a leadership role.
  • Likely to be legally authorized to work in the United States.
