Production Supervisor 2nd shift
About the role
We are seeking a motivated Production Supervisor for our swing shift in the Slitter Department. The Production Supervisor oversees the safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely delivery of materials, products, and services to Triple-S Steel customers. This role ensures Workplace Health and Safety requirements are met and maintained according to Federal, State, and Local laws, along with all company-issued training.
The Production Supervisor is accountable for the security of assets in the office and warehouse, regular audit and inventory of materials, and the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of the physical building and grounds using company-approved vendors. Responsibilities also include local Quality Assurance activities, logistics, procurement of operating supplies, and training of employees.
Responsibilities
- Maintains receiving, shipping, inventory control, and production work cells by installing, coordinating, and enforcing departmental programs, operational work instructions, and procedures.
- Controls scrap, inventory levels, and accuracy by overseeing physical cycle counts and reconciling with perpetual inventory records.
- Recruits, orients, plans, and trains staff, as well as monitors employee performance.
- Achieves branch financial objectives by minimizing costs, overtime, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and installing financial checks and balances.
- Ensures sales orders are issued, picked, processed, shipped, and invoiced in a timely fashion.
- Develops vendor evaluation criteria and regularly reviews vendors for adherence.
- Maintains warehouse and logistics operations, equipment, capacities, and capabilities through production planning and measurement, routine inspection and repair of in-house machinery and equipment, and regular review of warehouse layout and throughput.
- Interacts with customers, vendors, and service providers in the best interest of the company.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 10 years of equivalent work experience in a service center, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
- College Degree preferred.
- MSDS experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Solid computer and MS Office skills.
- Strong organization and follow-up skills.
- Experience in budget development and management is a plus.
