Production Supervisor (2nd Shift)
About the role
The Production Supervisor plays a critical leadership role within the manufacturing team, with direct responsibility for managing and coordinating daily production activities within assigned areas. The position ensures production operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality, productivity, and operational standards.
As a frontline leader, the Production Supervisor provides direction, coaching, and support to employees, encourages teamwork and accountability, and serves as an important communication link between production employees and plant leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manages day-to-day production team within assigned area(s), including understanding team challenges, defining areas for performance improvements, driving teamwork, and leading problem-solving groups.
- Records performance, updates charts and graphs, and reports on performance.
- Communicates with other Production Supervisors and support functions to ensure efficient and transparent information flow; collaborates to define improvement areas and precise action plans.
- Identifies performance gaps and manages their resolution using established tools and processes.
- Ensures all team members are trained and have demonstrated competency.
- Improves the 5S performance of the assigned area(s) and processes to be the best in the facility, leveraging best practices in the plant.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintains compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains up-to-date process documentation.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree in a business or technical field related to manufacturing is preferred.
- 5 years of manufacturing experience with 3 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Prior experience in an injection molding environment highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate well with manufacturing personnel, quality, engineering, and program management teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to collect and analyze operations data, make observations, and provide recommendations.
- Commitment to improving 5S performance.
- Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
