Responsibilities
- Leads the production of several processes/lines in a highly technical environment and is responsible for the line's success.
- Evaluates daily/regularly plant operating performance and advises on changes in operating conditions that will improve efficiencies and quality.
- Leads a team of individual professionals (e.g., engineers/officers) to meet quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness requirements.
- Troubleshoots and analyzes operational problems and advises on their resolution.
- Guides regular discussions with operators to coach performance and improve operational understanding and capability.
- Solicits and evaluates ideas for plant improvements and collaborates with qualified engineers to develop project proposals.
- Provides technical and operational advice to project teams.
- May act as principal interface between the operation team and the maintenance function.
- Engages in training and coaching of junior operators.
- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply in order to meet customer requirements.
- Initiates and participates in process development and cost improvement projects.
- Assists in department budget planning and management of department expenses.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing individuals on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance to manufacturing standards.
Requirements
- Demonstrates operations and technical skills and understanding of Flex functional standards.
- Demonstrates a general knowledge of functional concepts and a rudimentary understanding of Flex policies and procedures.
- Has awareness of the functional impact upon work processes and other functions.
- Ability to operate telephones, data entry, office software including, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation packages, and data base systems.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to collect data, establish facts, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and draw valid conclusions.
