Production Supervisor 1st Shift

SUMMARY

Supervise all employees in the production department in the manufacture of high-quality products in a cost effective manner. Train and maintain a safe and productive workforce in a positive teamwork environment. Coach, counsel and discipline as required. Also, direct activities of all other off shift employees.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage a safe work environment
• Responsible for safety training on production equipment
• Responsible for safety audits in the production department
• Maintain all equipment guarding and personal safety equipment
• Maintain good housekeeping in all areas of the plant
• Ensure employees are following safety procedures and using appropriate protective equipment
• Communicate to all employees on the critical aspects of our products
• Conduct shop floor quality audits, inspections and product approvals
• Create a well-trained efficient work force
• Cross train employees to maintain a competitive, knowledgeable and flexible work force
• Ensure continued productivity improvements, scrap reduction and plant OEE targets
• Ensure all employees have the required tools and equipment to successfully perform their duties in the most cost efficient manner
• Support a positive teamwork atmosphere and support 5s and continuous improvement activities

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree + 1 to 3 years in a leadership role or 2+ years related experience in the printing industry preferably in flexographic environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and direct a diverse work force
• Mechanical knowledge and aptitude
• Solid computer skills including Word and Excel
• Strong visual color comprehension and math, ruler and analytical skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Normal range of mobility necessary to work in a manufacturing environment and interface with all functions within the facility
• Stand, walk, use a computer and speak with other employees
• May be required to stoop, squat, stretch and lift

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee primarily works in a production environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes and moving equipment
