Production Supervisor - 1st Shift

About the role

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy-gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. We are seeking a Production Supervisor with a broad manufacturing background to assist in many areas of our shop floor at our newly renovated 300,000 sq. ft. facility in Milwaukee, WI. This is an onsite, 5-days/week, temp-to-hire position.

Responsibilities

• Lead various teams throughout the manufacturing facility and have the ability to lead by example
• Assist with tasks as necessary to complete assignments
• Train and motivate staff to meet demanding production requirements and schedules
• Step in to any position as needed, requiring a variety of general manufacturing experience
• Test products/equipment for defects or malfunctions
• Drive a culture of safety and accountability
• Communicate changes and updates to employees on processes and procedures

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of previous experience in a manufacturing facility on the shop floor
• Minimum of two years in a leadership position
• Ability to measure, compare, and perform simple or complex shop calculations to ensure products comply with engineering or sales specifications
• Experience using materials, methods, and equipment such as sanders, drills, air and electric hand cutting tools
• Previous experience working with and reading blueprints
• Previous experience in crane operation and rigging
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a variety of situations on the shop floor
• Previous experience working with steel and/or aluminum
• Proven ability to lead shop floor employees and motivate them to complete jobs accurately and on time
• Flexibility to adapt to updated changes in production schedules
• Detail-oriented to meet customer needs
• Comfortable being on the production floor 100% of the time—this is not a desk job
