Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the manufacturing operations for assigned shift, including meeting established safety, quality, line efficiency, yield, cost per case, and customer service goals/standards
- Oversee hourly employees: hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, training and development, performance evaluations, and approval/maintenance of attendance/hours worked records
- Enforce safety and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical problems
- Review material transactions and complete production work orders
- Enforce safety and housekeeping rules and policies
- Supervise 10+ hourly employees
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including preparing and conducting employee performance appraisals
- Maintain employee work schedules, including timecard approval, work assignments, job rotation, training, vacations, and paid time off
- Report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate’s Degree with 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a production setting preferred
- Experience in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry and/or high-speed packaged consumer goods manufacturing environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in department cost control and budget management
- Strong leadership capability—ability to motivate and influence others
- Lean manufacturing and/or Lean Six Sigma experience
Working Conditions
- Constant exposure to extreme loud noises
- Constant standing and moving by foot
- Constant exposure to extreme hot/cold (non-weather) environments
- Constant work in high places and near moving mechanical parts
- Frequent lifting/carrying under 50 pounds, reaching, and use of fingers
- Frequent reaching, pulling, bending, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, and bending
- Occasional lifting over 50 pounds
- Potential exposure to caustic chemicals
